We had our one Blue Andalusian – Squirt is her name because she was the smallest chick – laying her white eggs almost every day. But when the goats joined the family, sharing the same outdoor yard with the chickens, she stopped laying. We had to keep the chicken coop closed during the day because the goats would go in to eat the chicken food.
Then one or our Americauna’s began laying eggs just a few weeks ago. They’re a soft blue-green color. She liked to make a little nest with her body in the corner of the goat house – which we keep open during the day.
Suddenly at the end of last week, and in the middle of cold, sometimes frosty, sometimes rainy weather, we had the blue-green eggs, then white eggs returned, then a dark brown egg, and finally a light brown egg! Two days ago, we found 5 eggs in one day! They all got used to the goats as part of their family perhaps?
